In 1978, the Foundation was instrumental in having the school placed on the the National Register of Historic Places. Through the efforts of the Westside School Alumni Foundation, the school was saved from being demolished.
The Westside School Alumni Foundation received the Congressional Record from U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto for their dedication to preserving the memory of this historic school and for organizing the Centennial Celebration.
